Auto mechanics require prompt and accurate judgment on the quality of parts for vehicle diagnosis and inspection. However, experiencing various tasks within a short span of time is impossible. Thus, guidance has focused on how to use measuring instruments for each vehicle part. Because the opportunity to use tools has decreased before entering auto mechanics school, measurement errors have become highly noticeable during practical training. Therefore, training materials pertaining to dial gauges have been developed for training in basic tasks, and the effects of training when performing actual maintenance tasks were examined. Furthermore, we assessed the influence of measurement time on the measurement accuracy of the dial gauge. The results show that measurement accuracy increases with a decrease in measurement time.
