We reviewed the results of 28 Harris-HD2 total hip replacements in 23 patients with osteoarthritis. In particular, radiological findings of acetabular component loosening were analyzed.
All cases were classified into two groups. Cases with a less than 2 mm clear zone of the acetabular component radiologically at the time of follow-up were put in Group I (12 cases) . Cases with a 2 mm or a more than 2 mm clear zone, or a more than 3 mm migration of the acetabular component were put in Group I.
The mean width of the clear zone at zone 1 in Group IE was thicker than that in Group I None of the cases (5 cases) in which bone graft was performed for acetabular deficiency showed any migration of the acetabular component.
