A Treatise on the Screw Extrusion of Thermoplastics : Part II, Experimental Studies about the Extrusion of Polyethylene

This paper describes the experimental studies about the extrusion of polyethylene which have been conducted with a 30 mm dia. extruder. The pressure distribution along the screw length has been measured, as well as the discharge at the exit, through several pressure measuring holes. With the flow rate and the pressure difference between both ends of every zone, which are divided by those holes, the state of flow in every zone is discussed.
