In a detached house, a vibration control element has been developed and applied aggressively for further improvement of seismic safety in recent years. Various specifications of device has been practical used such as brace type, panel type, joint type and so on. A lot of device applies a viscoelastic material to energy absorbing element. Moreover, some amplification mechanism become a part of the device in panel and brace type for an effective damping in a brace and panel type because of a problem for energy absorbing. On the other hand, although a joint type is an easy installation and a good cost performance from a compact design, a technical challenge has been still remained. This study tries to apply urethane material not only to seismic safety element but also to energy absorbing element for detached house as a vibration reduction material at the same time. A linearity of basic mechanical characteristics of urethane elastomer is generally much stronger than viscoelastic material such as a natural rubber. Moreover, it is possible to arrange a proper mechanical characteristics that is satisfied the design demand to fit each application cases. This paper describes the mechanical characteristics in large deformation area at normal temperature and the temperature dependency on characteristic which are generally problem in practical used stage. Furthermore, the mechanical characteristics of formed urethane elastomer which is developed newly are also shown.
