This paper is concerned with the generation mechanism of self-excited sound in Rijke tubes and describes the acoustic attenuation characteristics when there is a temperature gradient in the tube. The proposed method is a theoretical analysis based on the transfer matrix method from the wave equation considering the general equation of heat transport, and the results are such that damped oscillations are promoted. The acoustic damping characteristics of an acoustic tube under a temperature gradient are numerically evaluated using the cellular automaton method (CA method).
