The purpose of this work is to realize a human sensibility system for timbre of a Japanese traditional flute, "Nohteki" and "Shinobue". Three approaches are used for several data sampling about timbre of each flute. One is the evaluation of the physics characteristics about "Nohteki" and "Shinobue" sounds with time, spectrum analysis, and wavelet transform. Two is the evaluation of the psychology characteristics about "Nohteki" and "Shinobue" sounds with loudness, sharpness, and roughness. The last is evaluation of the sensibility about "Nohteki" and "Shinobue" sounds through the questionnaire. At first, several factors are found with factor analysis from the sensibility of listeners about "Nohteki" and "Shinobue" sounds by SD method. Then Evaluate equations between the effective physics and psychological values as input parameters and the sensibility factors as output parameters are established by using multiple regression analysis.
