The present study employs an electric impedance change method for the identifications of location and size of damages of thick CFRP laminated beams. Measurements of electric impedance change at multiple points are conducted using a precise four-prove method. First, an impedance change of a laminated CFRP beam of 36 plies is measured during 3-point-bending test. After that, electric impedance changes of the four points are measured using specimens with multiple electrodes. From the measured electric impedance changes, response surfaces to estimate the damage location and size are created. With the response surfaces, damage location and size are estimated. As a result, the electric impedance change method is shown to be effective for the damage monitoring even for the thick laminated composites.
