The reduction in the energy consumption of household sector is needed. Although the heat supply systems in residential houses are diversified, the demand of thermal energy dominates the greatest part of the energy use. An energy-conservation proposal for thermal-energy supply is treated in this study especially for a large-scale and multistory housing complex. From the energy-conservation view-point, the thermal energy is requested to be supplied from the exhaust heat of power plant, cogeneration system (CGS), because of no additional consumption of energy resource only for thermal-energy supply. For determination of the appropriate capacities of the CGS and attached thermal-storage tank, the household-energy demand is predicted on the basis of human's lives simulated by using Monte Carlo method. By introducing CGS and a thermal-storage tank to a housing complex of 200-dwellings, the primary-energy consumption and the carbon-dioxide emission were simulated to be reduced by 51% and 29%, respectively.
