Vortex structure generated from a bluff body in flow causes noise, vibration, and energy loss. Investigation of such vortex structure is useful for solving various engineering problems. The purpose of this study is to extract vortex structure in the wake behind circular disk, as a typical asymmetric body, by PIV processing. In order to extract the vortex structure behind the disk, Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) was applied to correlation matrix of velocity fluctuation. POD is a method to extract optimally dominant structure in energy contribution. POD results indicate periodic vortex shedding and alternate mode vortex structure.
