In plastic deformation processes such as die-forging and rolling at high temperatures, seizure sometime occurs between forming tools and workpieces. Seizure in plastic deformation processes has negative influences to decrease productivity and lifetime of dies and put operators in danger. As an engineering point of view on seizure, systematic investigation of seizure of various metallic materials is very useful. In this study, various metallic materials, carbon steel, austenitic stainless steel, pure Ti and pure Ni were investigated for seizure in hot hammer die-forging. Seizure of carbon steel with die was strong and that of Ti was weak in this experiment.
