This paper presents an assessment for technical and economic feasibility of electricity generation from biomass. In particular, we focus on determining the optimal location of the biomass collection and electricity generation facilities using gasification technologies. This is accomplished by representing this decision making task as a location-routing problem (multiple allocation). Specific equipment selection and cost evaluation of the electricity generation facilities is accomplished by means of a method for the synthesis of biomass conversion processes. In order to illustrate the proposed approach. we present a case study for biomass-to-electricity generation in Nagano city.
