This paper describes replacement works of main components and maintenance technique for Pressurized Water Reactor nuclear power plants, which have been performed or under development in Japan. Mihama #1 operated by Kansai Electric Power Co., the first PWR plant in Japan, started commercial operation in 1970, and now twenty-three PWR plants are operated in Japan. Some of them have operated for thirty years or more, therefore kinds of special maintenance works have been applied to keep their safety operation. The mechanism of aging for each equipment of PWR plants has been researched, and proper preventive maintenance technique has been studied.
