The percentage and the number of aged people are increasing in many countries, and their physical deterioration has become a social problem. Accordingly, in recent years, a demand for certain rehabilitation support system (human-coexistent system) using robot and virtual reality technology has been increasing a lot. The ER brake, a key technology to bring about the practical use of human-coexistent systems, is getting more and more world-wide attraction. Basing on ER brake, we developed rehabilitation support systems for upper limbs.
