Recently, demand for observation, manipulation, and specific characteristic measuring of cell and cell tissues is increasing with growth of the life-science field. From previous researches, automation of cell manipulation by micro-robotics or evaluation of cell stiffness measuring have reported and commanded attention. We developed a two-fingered micro-hand, which can help to operation of micro objects and increase operation efficiency. Kawakami et al. have developed a technique to measure cell hardness using a two-fingered micro-hand with needle-shaped end effectors. However, the previous two-fingered micro-hand system is so huge as to be limited to set up. Therefore we have a problem that an optimum environment for objects, being cell or cell tissues etc. cannot be prepared. In this paper, we propose a small two-fingered micro-hand, and measure hardness of cell and nucleus.
