A perfect building information modeling (BIM) of a piping system is important for pipes repairment, reconstruction, and update. The feature detection methods are important for RGB-D camera to build the BIM model. Different combinations of feature detectors and descriptors have various effects according to different senses. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the performance of combined detectors and descriptors in different situations for straight pipes. The results showed that the best-performing combination is SURF-SURF, while ORB-ORB has the fastest matching speed.
