In recent years, the need for operations of Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS) has been increasing, and many researches have been conducted to realize MASS operations. Since the information such as the direction and speed of other vessels is important for MASS operation, the current AI-based object detection cannot detect the movement of other vessels. Furthermore, the current object recognition technology is insufficient to grasp the information necessary for autonomous navigation since the installation rate of AIS on ships is low and detection by radar is not reliable. In this study, we conducted a verification experiment to see if AI can be used to recognize the movement of other vessels.
