The use of maritime autonomous surface ships (MASS) on urban rivers has been considered to address traffic problems such as urban traffic congestion and driver shortages. The practical application of MASS requires the simultaneous development of remote monitoring systems in addition to vessels that can be operated autonomously. In this study, we used MQTT and WebSocket as communication protocols that may be used in the remote monitoring system. The characteristics of the protocols were verified by communicating navigation data. Using these protocols, we focused on the three points of "lightweight," "low latency," and "stability," and verified their characteristics by communicating navigation data.
