It is important to increase the number of early detections to reduce the number of deaths from colorectal cancer. However, since it is difficult to increase the number of colonoscopists, there is a need to realize automated colonoscope insertion. For this purpose, we developed an equipment that enables hands-free operation of the double-balloon colonoscope, such as bending, pushing, and balloon inflation. Although we succeeded in inserting the colonoscope into the anorectal area, we could not reach the sigmoid colon. However, we succeeded in laying the groundwork for safe insertion with feedback on the status of colonoscope. Throughout the experiment, we identified the problems such as wires loosening. In the future, we aim to improve these problems and realize automated colonoscope insertion.
