Experimental investigation was made on the flow and thermal fields over a heated two-dimensional hill. It is found that in the reverse-flow region on the leeward side of the hill, a second maximum intensity of temperature fluctuations exists at the outer edge of the separation bubble. The instantaneous temperature waveforms near the heated wall show a very large amplitude consisting of high-frequency fluctuations superimposed on the low-frequency motions.
