We present a WIKI-based database of flavonoid structures with their biosynthetic pathways. It contains 14,000 flavonoid–plant relationships and 7,000 molecular structures, where each flavonoid is assigned a 12-digit ID based on its core structure (e.g. flavonol, flavane, or anthocyanin) and chemical modifications (e.g. hydroxylation, glycosidation, and prenylation). The database is accessible at http://www.metabolome.jp/software/FlavonoidViewer/.
In this presentation, we emphasize the benefit of WIKI-based system, and why it contributes to the interdisciplinary area such as bioinformatics.
