The object of this research is to consider appropriate Japanese standards on printing and copy editing styles. For that, we search under typographical signs on the printing : novels and newspapers in the Meiji period. The results of the search are following : We collected 26 kinds of punctuational patterns first. And, we collected about 100 kinds of typographical signs except punctuational marks. we also collected rrLany kinds of various ways to use them. As the result, we recognized that there are some effective or attractive examples of typographical signs on the printings in the Meiji period .
