This paper refer to the relations between sitting or squatting posture and chair design. Among the examples of figures of sitting posture in cylinder seals from Urk and Jemdit Nasr style, there is a group of anthropomorphic aspects in the postures, discovered with other objects in Near Eastern art. Such figures are very common not only West Asia, but also Egypt to the Indus Valley during the whole of the third millennium BC. Several characteristic in the variations of the postures on the ground, upon carpet and the Stool (牀) , as a presentations of a primitive 'Throne' style, are discussed.
