Beech and LVL beech frames irradiated with ultraviolet rays (UV) are stronger than those laid at room temperature. The value of compressive strength is greater than estimeted. Experimental results showed that the wood and adhesive becarne hard after UV was shone. We put the test on the compressive strength of beech and LVL beech frames in order to investigate the stress-strain relationship using the strain gauges. Test pieces laid at room temparature increased the amount of the strain rapidly immediately before breaking. In comparison with this, test pieces irradiated with UV increased the little amount of the strain. After beech and LVL beech frames are irradiated with UV, the value of compressive strength increases. The wood and adhesive become hard but beech and LVL get brittle.
