This study focused on the influence of Creenaway Style upon the smock design in the late 19th century. The following results were made; The smock saw in a new light in the 1870s by artists and the aesthetic movement member. Especially Kate Greenaway drew the traditional smocks in her books and it is a beginning that the smock was introduced to upper class as the children's costume. The Liberty started to sell 'Greenaway style' dress with smocking for young girl by 1880's and became popular. Though smocking was used for ornamens of garments, the traditional smock was disappeared. The meanig of the word 'smock' had changed to the girl's dress with the ornament smocking from the traditional men's garment.
