Case Study on Hitachi Bus Rapid Transit

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to report on our concept and process of the design for the BRT, Bus Rapid Transit, in Hitachi city. There was the Hitachi Dentetsu train there before, but it had become a disused line 15 years ago. The new traffic system, the Bus Rapid Transit, was introduced for people’s benefit and effective utilization of the land.

Following the first phase of construction finished in 2013, we designed the graphics of the buses and bus stops again. The graphic motifs were collected from the things which the citizens are proud of, because BRT which has the favor of citizens leads the success of BRT. We discussed with citizens group and designed the graphics of five buses and six bus stops in 2017.
