Last year the Mitsubishi paper mills Hachinohe mill completed the rebuild of headboxes of No. 2 and No. 3 paper machine for sheet formations and CD profiles improve. No. 2 and No. 3 machine produce printing and coated base paper grades.
The adopted new headboxes are “Thin-channel headbox” by Beloit-Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
To minimize downtime for the rebuild, a significant amount of work was done before the machine shut down, so startup of the machine was 4 days and 6 days in No. 2 and No. 3 machine respectively.
As a result of the rebuild, both machine can produce good sheet formation and good CD profile webs.
In addition, the strength of the paper (Tensile, Tear and Internal bond strength) can increase.
