Business IT education with REA model at graduate school

Abstract

REA model is accounting model with event approach, which was proposed by William McCarthy, and studied as business ontology. The REA model is suitable to describe business architecture with three elements such as Resource, Event and Agent. One of the field utilizing REA model is education of enterprise information systems. The author have an opportunity of a class for fundamental understanding of ERP, Enterprise Resource Planning, systems. This paper describes its objectives, issues and results for business IT education with using the REA model. Several findings are reported to consider business IT education in future. Lastly the necessity of its education is proposed in order to keep understanding of business process for not only students but also managers in business firms and programmers. The idea of further study ofIT education is described.
