We evaluated the attenuation coefficient (AC) using ultrasound-guided attenuation parameter (UGAP) for diagnosis of fatty liver. In the correlation analysis between AC values and magnetic resonance-based proton density fat fraction (PDFF) values, the correlation coefficient was 0.79, corresponding to a strong relationship. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve for diagnosis of steatosis grade (≥1, ≥2, 3) based on the PDFF values were, 0.93, 0.92, and 0.91, respectively, corresponding to high diagnostic values. Even though, in the patients with more than 25 kg/m2 of body mass index, the correlation coefficient between AC values and PDFF values was 0.81. In conclusion, the measurement of AC using UGAP as a non-invasive method is useful for quantitative evaluation of fatty liver.
