Overwintering sites and stages of the fig bud mite, Eriophyes ficus COTTE, were investigated in an open fig field in 1993 and 1994. E. ficus adults overwintered in dormant fig buds from January to March. The number of overwintering adults were greater in big dormant buds than in small dormant buds and greater in dormant buds on top part of shoot than base part of shoot. E. ficus can overwinter also in dormant buds of cuttage shoot.
