In 2014, I investigated the environmental factors that affect the incidence of the bacterial blight of grapevine caused by Xylophilus ampelinus at seven places of three vineyards in Hokkaido, Japan. The temperature and humidity in these places were measured at specific hourly during the growing period in each place and the relationships between the incidence of the disease in the leaves of grapevine and environmental factors were analyzed. A significant relationship was observed between the total time during which the RH was over 95% and incidence of the disease. The total time during which the condition was dry(RH below 70%)or warm(over 25℃)showed no significant relationship with the incidence of the disease. Moreover, no significant relationship was also observed in the total time during which was cool condition(between 15 to 20℃).On the basis of these findings, it was considered high humidity affects influences the occurrence of the disease the most.
