THE CYTOPLASMIC ANNULATE LAMELLAE IN THE PRINCIPAL CELLS OF THE EPIDIDYMAL EPITHELIUM OF THE JAPANESE MONKEY

Abstract

There can often be seen stacks of the annulate lamellae in the principal cells of the epididymal epithelium of the Japanese monkey, which are associated with the rough-surfaced endoplasmic reticulum (rER). The fine structure and formation of these annulate lamellae were discussed, and in addition the arrangement of the pore-complexes in this peculiar structure were examined to compare with those of the nuclear pores.
