The larynx is a vital organ involved in speech, breathing, and swallowing. Any functional impairment can significantly reduce the quality of life (QOL). Why is laryngology so fascinating? In this article, I will share my personal views on this subject. The larynx’s structure is remarkably precise and beautiful, and elastic fibers that provide recoil force to tissues are abundant in the joints of the larynx and the walls of the pharynx. These fibers assist with vocalization and swallowing movements. Laryngeal care requires treatment plans tailored to individual patients, making it a form of customized medicine. Laryngeal science requires collaboration among multiple healthcare professionals, and the joy of achieving functional improvement through treatment is amplified when shared with others, making laryngology a truly rewarding field of medicine.
