The concept of eco-design was born 30 years ago. However, how many environmental problems have been solved regarding manufacturing and urban planning is questionable. The concept of eco-design is an environmentally friendly approach based on the '4Rs': refuse, reduce, reuse, and recycle. Our goal is to solve environmental problems through design. In this study, we propose installing street furniture as part of urban development to improve the area's aesthetics. We will find solutions by comparing the cities of Kamakura and Maebashi, both of which are working on advanced eco-design. We will then reiterate the importance of eco-design, discover new values in street furniture, and consider the path to a sustainable society. In addition, to improve the aesthetics of the local area through the proposal of street furniture, we will also make a proposal using the seeds of Aquilegia (Columbine).
