In Japan, there are many industrial districts and most of them have existed for more than l00years. In many cases, the industrial districts had division of labor system. In order to keep the continuity of industrial district, there is a change in the framework of labor division. This article is an investigation of Yamanaka lacquer-ware production district that has been continuing for 400 years. A purpose of this study is to elucidate mechanism of framework change of industrial district, based on the labor division.
