Tohkoku got his own expression for the idea of freedom and began to write a lot of his essays since 25th year of Meiji. It had been said his wish to be a politician changed into the one to be a literary man after this year. Among his vocabulary, these words "love", "native land", "dandy", "chivalry", "elegant" and "nature" were studied here in the relation with his spiritual development. As the result, we could find the defference of meanings in his words and change of his mind between before and after 25th year. He could rediscovered the nature of all phenomena in the world through this process, and his uncomplited essay "Naibu Seimei Ron" was a fruit of this recognition in his literature. He was not so metaphisical idealist as Aizan Yamaji and Soho Tokutomi had reproached, but he denied useless fancy and respected imagination. According to his poetic tendency, he did not have proseic relativity to develop the conflict between newly-found words and former ones, and his suicide was necessary result of his personality and times.
