Localization of nucleoside diphosphatase (NDPase) and 5'-nucleotidase (5'-Nase) activity in rat choroid plexus epithelial cells was studied electron microscopically. NDPase activity was observed only in the cytoplasm on the Golgi cisternae of the epithelial cells, and was positive on the pericyte and endothelial cells. 5'-Nase activity was found on the lysosomes and along the basal plasmalemma or basal infoldings of the epithelial cells. The reaction products were also found on the pericytes.
The role of these enzymes in the choroid plexus was briefly discussed.
