抄録

The objective of this paper is to attract attention to the violation of Engel's law in recent household consumption in Japan. In this paper, the Working-Leser type Engel function was etimated by using the age group of household head micro data. Although the empirical study suggests a violation of Engel's law mainly from the downward bias caused by the omission of imputed rent, the violation was still observed in the estimation with the corrected data.
