The focus problem of the Verb Copying Construction (VCC) has always been the focus of academic attention. Many scholars have proven through different ways that the focus of a VCC is at the end of the complement, but there has been no in-depth research on the specific expression of the focus. Using the research ideas of Prosodic Patterns, this article divides VCC into 3 groups and 7 types according to the complement type and semantic orientation, and examines the expression of VCC in pitch, duration, and volume in different categories. The results show that the focus of VCC is at the end of the complement in a single focus sentence pattern. VCC with an object added after the complement are particularly distinctive, and the complement and object serve as complementary focus that are highlighted in the sentence. The experiment also found that surface grammatical structures significantly affect the prosodic expression of VCC, and that the semantic orientation of the complement has an impact on the expression of the focus. In sentences where the complement points to the subject of the sentence, the focus of the sentence tends to be shared by the verb and complement structure. This article provides a brief analysis of the reasons for these focus expressions in VCC.
