Microstructure control of LiMn 2O 4 thin film is important in respect to the intercalation of Li ion as the cathode materials for the Li-ion secondary batteries. In this study, spinel LiMn 2O 4 thin films on MgO(110) and Au/MgO(110)substrates were designed and synthesized by coating a [Li-Mn-O] metalorganic precursor solution, followed by heat treatment as low as 350oC. XRD and TEM analysis revealed that the intercalated LiMn2O4(111) plane was formed perpendicular to the substrate surface. The interface structure of spinel LiMn2O4 and substrates will be further discussed from a view point of microstructure design for a higher rate of lithium ion diffusion.
