Highly textured ZnO-based ceramics were produced by using templated grain growth technique (TGG). ZnO single crystals which used as templates in TGG were synthesized by homogeneous precipitation and molten salt technique with utilizing different alkaline salts such as KOH and NaOH. The templates were aligned by tape casting of ZnO based aqueous slurries. A modified tape caster with a comb blade was used during the forming of tapes. Texture quality in the green and sintered samples was investigated by XRD and SEM analyses. The effects of various compositions including different varistor formulas, sintering conditions and dimensions of the templates on the texture quality were examined.
