Flow-induced particle alignment in tape casting has been studied using aqueous slurry containing anisometric alumina particle with mean aspect ratio of 1.6. Detailed of aligned particle structure were examined using the polarized light technique. The flow of slurry under blade was analyzed and calculated using process parameters and experimental flow data. The drag-dominated flow induced better alignment state of long-axes of alumina particle in the casting direction compare to that developed from the pressure-dominated flow.
