This report proposed a method to construct an anatomy-based variational modeling of Digital Hand skin model, which can be used to efficiently generate various individual hand models with different dimensions for virtual ergonomic assessment. The skin surface of a generic hand model was hierarchically partitioned into 15 segments according to the hand surface anatomy. And then it was deformed by scaling and aligning the segments so that it satisfied individual hand dimensions. The proposed method was validated through comparing the generated hand models which fit the hand dimensions of a subject with his MRI-measured hand surface.
