Abstract

In recent years, aging of public facilities has been regarded as a serious problem. The purpose of this report is to clarify the present situation and issues of the public facility reorganization plans of advanced municipalities at the implementation stage. Main findings are as follows: (1) Public facility reorganization is led by an exclusive section or a policy section and implemented by various sections that manage individual facilities. (2) Public facility reorganization is managed at the "entrance" before implementation and at the "exit" after implementation. (3) There is a collaboration between public facility management and urban planning including urban master plan and location normalization plan. (4) Information about public facility is shared among citizens and collaboration of municipality and citizens in the implementation stage is promoted.
