Abstract

In recent years, the importance of nighttime landscape has increased, but there are few local governments that have adequate systems and operational achievements. The purpose of this study is to research and classify the actual situation of nighttime landscape in Matsue City, where there is no nighttime landscape plan and to grasp the characteristics of it, and to consider the way it should be in the future. Based on the results of the patrol research and the fact that Matsue City is known as the "City of Water," I focused on the nighttime landscape of the waterside. Also, among the many waterside spaces found in Matsue City, this study was selected the area around Matsue Castle Area as a research area. By comparing nighttime and daytime walking experiments of this area, we clarified that "townscape" is evaluated as good in the nighttime landscape and that "waterside" is important. In addition, this research area was divided into 6 areas, analyzed in each area, and the future formation of the nighttime landscape was considered.
