Abstract

In Ulaanbaatar City, Mongolia, both population and automobile traffic have been increasing. Urban centralization has led to deteriorating pedestrian environments and increased traffic congestion due to a rise in traffic volume. In September 2022, on Tokyo Street in Ulaanbaatar City, Japanese students and students from Mongolian University of Science and Technology collaborated to propose improvements in greenery and accessibility. The proposal aimed to create a "city that embraces everyone," focusing on the concepts of "walkability for all," "safety and security," and "pleasant atmosphere." During the presentation of the results, questions arose about the feasibility of the proposal, and challenges remained in sharing the significance of the proposal. The collaboration of students from different backgrounds to envision a common future was meaningful.
