Abstract

Decrease of population in Japan is a reality we must be ready to fase through a new way of thinking about reconstruction toward a Sustainable City.In Hokkaido, many local cities were constructed systemaatically by the governments, so urban heritages are considered to redesign the city toward Sustainable City. This paper aims, 1)Describe the role of urban planning intention between 1900 to 2000 in Hakodate city. 2)Sow the way of redesign the urban area structure toward Sustainable City. 3)Considaer improvements on urban planning system toward Sustainable City.
