During these 30 years, the black locust has been spreading its habitat in many Japanese rivers. It is known that this change has been caused by gravel mining and weir construction, however, the mechanism of this change is still not clear. I researched river measurement data over the last 40 years and vegetation data over the last 30 years in alluvial fan area of Tama River. In addition to these data, I observed bed materials over the flood channel. Based on these data, I revealed some characteristics of the black locust habitat, and how the habitat has formed in Tama River. Additionally, I considered how this channel has formed stable situation between a weir and a weir.
