The methodology of assessing flood damage should be reviewed in accordance with the changes in members and materials composed of house. To evaluate flood prevention project by cost benefit analysis, it is important to assess the house damage cost which accounts for a large portion of the total flood damage. However, because a house is composed of various kinds of members and materials, this assessment is difficult.
In this study, we surveyed characteristics of wooden house damage by inundation based on the knowledge of the experts of houses. We classified a typical house into members and materials in relation to water resistance. Then we led the implication between the average damage cost of the main members and the inundation depth.
