Among the students, who studied Japanese during World War II in Europe, there were those who researched Japan and educated Japan specialists, and those who engaged in cultural exchange after war. In most cases, it would not be so difficult to trace the outline of the activity of the former one, but it would be hard for the latter. This article focusses on M. Keravuori, who studied Japanese in Finland during the war and introduced Japanese culture such as Waka to Finland. She started her Japanese-related activities after reaching 60 years of age and was invited to Japan. Her activities were partially introduced in detail in Japan. I discuss the significance of her activity to the Japanese as well as the origins of her activities. It should be remarked that her activity was one of the results of Japanese courses taught by Japanese lecturers brought over during World War II.
