The early German Tourism Studies appeared in the second half of the 19th Century. Tourism was regarded as a part of economical meaning. Tourism as an interdisciplinary study field expanded in many different study fields, especially in geography. But research institutes at many universities and study groups also developed tourism as an independent study field. The first institute of tourism established in Germany before the World War Ⅰ, then during and after the World War Ⅱ, Scientists in Switzerland contributed to developing tourism study. With changing social situations and developing tourism research, the definition of Tourism has been changed.
